Aim
1. The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) is seeking feedback from the food industry and interested parties on the draft Food (Amendment No. X) Regulations 2022 (Labelling requirements for prepacked foods), which is targeted to come into effect in the second quarter of 2023.
Background
2. SFA previously initiated a public consultation exercise from 15 October to 20 November 2020 on the proposed amendments to the Food Regulations on labelling requirements for prepacked foods (hereinafter referred to as “2020 consultation”). Comments were sought from stakeholders (industry associations, local food manufacturers, retailers and importers), as well as interested parties on the proposed amendments.
3. At the close of the 2020 consultation , SFA received comments from 40 respondents. SFA has responded to these comments in the document “Responses to the comments received from the public consultation on proposed amendments to the Food Regulations regarding general labelling requirements for prepackaged food products”. A copy of the document can be downloaded from SFA’s website.
4. SFA has considered the feedback from stakeholders during the 2020 consultation and benchmarked against the international standards established by the Codex Alimentarius Commission (hereinafter referred to as “Codex”).

6. SFA invites views and comments on the draft Food (Amendment No. X) Regulations 2022 (Labelling requirements for prepacked foods). All submissions should be clearly and concisely written and should provide explanation(s) for any proposed revisions.
