FAQs on REACH's Feedback Process

Q: What is REACH's role in the feedback process? Does REACH filter or censor feedback received from contributors?
A:
REACH facilitates communication between Singaporeans and Government agencies by proactively initiating discussions on various topics and gathering feedback on policy issues.

All feedback submitted to REACH, regardless of the sentiments expressed, is read by REACH staff. REACH will convey the feedback, in its entirety, to the relevant agencies for information and consideration. We do not edit or filter any feedback received. However, we reserve the right to remove topics or postings on the REACH Discussion Forum that are deemed inappropriate, irrelevant and/or insensitive to other users in accordance with our Terms of Use. This will ensure that our discussion forum remains a welcoming place for contributors.

FAQs on the REACH Discussion Forum - Facebook Login

Q: Why do I need to use my Facebook account to log-in to the REACH Discussion Forum?
A:
Through the REACH Discussion Forum, we aim to encourage healthy online discourse and engagement on public policies as well as national and social issues in Singapore. We introduced the Facebook login for the REACH Discussion Forum to promote civil, engaging and constructive exchange of views and conversations amongst contributors on the discussion forum. This is similar to general practices adopted by major and popular websites, such as YouTube and various mainstream media websites, where only registered users are able to post comments. Q: Will I be able to view the REACH Discussion Forum or access the other parts of the REACH website if I do not use Facebook to log in?
A:
Yes, you can still browse the REACH website and the REACH Discussion Forum. However, to start a thread on the discussion forum or reply to a post, you will need to log-in using your Facebook account.

Q: What if I don't have a Facebook account, or if I prefer not to log-in using my Facebook account? Are there other ways through which I can provide my feedback?

For those without a Facebook account or who prefer not to use the Facebook login, your feedback is equally important to us. Please use any of the REACH feedback channels listed below to get in touch with us:

Getting Started on the REACH Discussion Forum

Q: I wish to start a discussion thread or post a reply to a discussion thread. How do I do this?
A:
First, you will need to log-in to the REACH Discussion Forum using your Facebook account. The main steps can be found in our step-by-step user guide.

If you have further questions, please contact a REACH Duty Officer at 9675 5154 from Monday to Friday (9.00am to 6.00pm) or send us an email at reach@reach.gov.sg after office hours.

Q: After logging in through Facebook, a pop-up window states that 'REACH Singapore would like to access your public profile and friend list'. What does this mean? Will my posts on the REACH Discussion Forum appear on my Facebook page?
A:
The pop-up you see is a standard dialogue that Facebook logins for discussion forum services, such as ours, have to comply to. We would like to assure you that we are not tracking your profile or friends list. As a Facebook user, you decide what appears on your public profile. Posts and comments put up on the REACH Discussion Forum will not be published on your Facebook profile.

If however, you do not wish to allow us to access your public profile and friends list, you can still click "Cancel" to exit. However, please note that you will not be able to participate on our discussion forum.

Q: How can I log out of the REACH Discussion Forum?

You can log out of the REACH Discussion Forum by clicking My Account > Logout.

Q: How can I disconnect my Facebook account from the REACH Discussion Forum?
A:
You can disconnect your Facebook account from the REACH Discussion Forum by emailing us at reach@reach.gov.sg.

Postings on the REACH Discussion Forum

Q: I have submitted some feedback to REACH on the discussion forum. How do I know when the relevant Government agency has replied?
A:
REACH will keep the relevant Government agencies informed of your feedback. However, please note that the need for a reply is assessed by the respective agency concerned and is based on each agency's policies. We seek your kind understanding that agencies will need some time to evaluate, investigate and consider the feedback that has been surfaced to them.

For replies to feedback on the REACH Discussion Forum, REACH will post an agency's reply on the relevant thread once they respond to us.

Q: Why was my posting deleted?
A:
Postings on the REACH Discussion Forum which breach our website's Terms of Use will be removed from the website. Please see our forum rules for more details. Separately, as part of our regular housekeeping of the REACH Discussion Forum, inactive discussion threads and postings are archived regularly.

Q: What happens to my feedback after I have filled out the Online Feedback Form and submitted it?
A:
REACH will send your feedback to the relevant Government agency(s) within three working days. If you would like to check on the status of your feedback, please contact us at 1800-3535555 or email us at reach@reach.gov.sg and quote your Acknowledgement ID number.

Q: What happens to feedback that I submit through the Public Consultations page?
A:
The feedback received through the Public Consultations page is sent directly to the Government agency which posted the consultation paper.

Q: I would like to join the REACH mailing list so that I can be informed of REACH events, receive the bi-weekly e-newsletter and quarterly newsletter. How can I sign up for this? Will I be able to unsubscribe from it at a later date?
A:
Users will automatically be added to the REACH mailing list when they first log-in with their Facebook account.

If you do not wish to receive email updates or publications from REACH, or if you wish to use another email account other than the one linked to your Facebook account, you can unsubscribe or indicate the email address for the mailing list by sending an email to us at reach@reach.gov.sg.

Q: I use browsers such as Firefox and Mozilla as my default Internet browsers. Why can't I submit my feedback when using these browsers?
A:
The REACH website is best viewed using Internet Explorer 9 & above and all latest 2 versions. If you encounter problems accessing our website and/or submitting your feedback online, please send us an email at reach@reach.gov.sg and we will be happy to assist you.

Q: I work from an Apple computer. Can I access the REACH website?
A:
Yes, you can view the information on the website and submit your feedback online.

Q: I am using an Apple iPad. Can I login to the REACH Discussion Forum via Facebook Login?
A:
Yes, you can participate in the REACH Discussion Forum via Safari, iOS Chrome is not compatible.

Q: Can I access the website via my mobile phone?
A:
Yes, the REACH website is mobile-friendly.
