37 agencies have pledged their commitment to workplace safety, taking the lead in aiming to reduce fatality rates to 1.8 per 100,000 workers by 2018. The rates had dropped from 4.0 in 2005 to 2.1 in 2012. In countries such as the UK and Germany, workplace fatality rates are 0.6 and 0.7 respectively.
