Engaging Citizens On National Issues

What are the concerns and aspirations of Singaporeans? By providing a trusted channel for citizen feedback on national policies and issues, REACH serves as the bridge that connects public sentiments with the nation’s direction. We gather, consolidate, and share public feedback with relevant agencies so that the public can actively shape the future of Singapore.

Budget 2023

Every year, REACH organises a series of engagements to gather views on Budget announcements from various communities.

For example, we conducted a pre-Budget Listening Point at One Raffles Place to gather views from those working nearby. Second Minister for Finance Indranee Rajah joined us this year.

As part of our ongoing connection with the heartland communities, REACH held outdoor radio talk shows and Listening Points at NEX and AMK Hub, to gather public sentiments on the Budget 2023 initiatives.

We also reached out to groups like the Malay-Muslim community through the Plan B podcasts, and to young families through the parenting community app Supermom.

Forward Singapore (Forward SG) Conversations

REACH organised webinar conversations to close the loop on views and suggestions shared by participants at earlier Forward SG Conversations.

Participants discussed key issues such as an ageing population, redefining success, and building an inclusive society with Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, Minister Grace Fu, and Senior Parliamentary Secretaries Rahayu Mahzam and Eric Chua.

In support of Forward SG, REACH collaborated with host and comedian Hossan Leong to discuss key policy issues with government leaders and guests on the “Red Dot, Hot Takes” video series.

REACH, in conjunction with mm2 Entertainment and AsiaOne, organised the SUS Ads Video Challenge 2023, where video enthusiasts expressed their thoughts on Forward SG through short videos.

National Day Rally

As part of our post-NDR outreach, REACH organised focus group discussions with the Ministry of National Development to share details and explain the rationale behind the NDR public housing announcements. During the session, participants contributed views on the new flat classifications.

REACH also partnered the Singapore Federation of Chinese Clan Associations to seek the Mandarin-speaking community’s views on key NDR announcements, like jobs and the economy, support for seniors, and healthcare needs.

We also partnered Friendzone – a social enterprise focused on engaging youths – to discuss issues close to their hearts. Apart from NDR topics, the youths also came together to exchange views on topics like challenges and aspirations at work.
