Pet Ownership

Description:
Survey to enhance the dog licensing process in Singapore.
Ministry:
Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singapore
E-Poll Period:
02 Nov 2015 - 23 Nov 2015
Status:
Closed

Currently, there are about 60,000 licensed dogs in Singapore. Dogs are required to be licensed to facilitate traceability in the event of a rabies outbreak. It is also useful for owners, as licences facilitate the tracing and return of lost and found dogs.

AVA has been reviewing our regulatory framework on pet ownership to improve traceability and management of pet dogs in Singapore. In particular, we are studying the feasibility of offering licensees the option to apply for a licence that needs only to be renewed multi-years (i.e. every 2 to 3 years) instead of annual renewal (i.e. 1-year licence) so as to further facilitate their convenience in licence renewal.

AVA welcomes dog owners to participate in the survey to help fine-tune our implementation.
