I chose engineering because i like science and maths, and I also did well in the subjects. I thought engineering was more versatile discipline. This is true. However compared to other advanced economics where engineering graduates go on to pursue careers in their fields. Most local uni engineers do not follow their counterparts in other countries. Operational and engineering work are considered cost centre not like revenue generating work.

Despite the efforts needed to obtain an engineering degree with the analytical skills it imparted, local engineeting graduates have poorer prospect and overwhelm by foreign engineers coming here amid employers' claim of lack in engineering talent while not providing tbem opportunitiee to gain practical engineering knowledge. They want cheaper, better and faster engineers and the govt gives it to them.
