Speeding Up MRT Track Renewal Project

The early closure of train stations will allow the track renewal project to be speeded up. The extra time will allow the crew to replace 44 to 56 sleepers per night, which are used to hold the tracks in place, compared to 35 to 45 without it. The early closure will last till the end of this year and will apply from Sundays to Thursdays, with the exception of the eve of public holidays.

The project is on track to be completed by the end of next year. Sleepers on the North-South Line have already been replaced.
