S'pore Committed to Tackling Haze with ASEAN

Singapore is committed to working closely with Indonesia and other affected countries to address the annual haze problem. Although the fire-fighting assistance teams from the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) have returned from their two-week mission in Indonesia, Singapore will continue to “enhance bilateral, regional and international cooperation to tackle the root cause of the fires that cause haze”, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) on 25 Oct.

Singapore will continue to take legal action against errant companies responsible for the haze through the Transboundary Haze Pollution Act (THPA). It has also called on ASEAN Member States to "take firm and decisive action" through enhanced regional cooperation to help prevent the recurrence of the transboundary haze.
