Hep C: One more infected at SGH

Another patient from the Singapore General Hospital (SGH) has tested positive for hepatitis C. Tests showed that the patient is associated with the cluster of 22 cases who were admitted to Ward 64A or Ward 67 from April to June 2015. This brings the total number of patients infected with the virus to 23.

SGH said in a statement on 21 October that the patient is currently well and has been informed. The hospital will arrange for a hepatologist to advise the patient and the family on the treatment options.

Patients who had stayed in the affected wards from January to June this year have been contacted for screening. Among those who have been screened, 531 tested negative, while 66 test results are pending. 299 SGH staff have also been screened and all tested negative.
