Today, 30 Apr 2012, is the second time I heard from my elderly mother.

She said that people from FM97.2 were talking about the world ending on 21 Dec 2012.

She said that the US President had made plans to flee to the moon.

She said that some rich man had sold all of his assets and bought a retreat at some remote location.

Really? FM97.2 saying all these stuff?

I really hope my Mother won't do anything silly just because of what she heard on a radio station.

I believe that there are no waves without wind. FM97.2 should be more careful in what they are discussing, not everyone can readily discern facts from fiction.

i think they were discussing Nostradamus and his prediction that the world will end on 31 Dec 2012.

there are actually a number of doomsday cults based on Nostradamus' prediction and they do practice what you described there. they have built nuclear underground shelter in places like alaska, russia, etc.

it is a radio show, nothing wrong in informing people the things that happen outside of singapore. don't make such a big fuss about more knowledge

If it's all so silly, then why bother replying? Don't you look silly now?

Slapping your own face is fun eh?

I listen to FM97.2 sometimes, but haven't heard of them discussing such an issue but even if they did, I don't think it's meant to be taken seriously; the people on the station sometimes likes to pull jokes. I'm not a scientist so I really don't know whether it's true or not but let your mother know, just listen for entertainment, as a pastime, don't take it seriously. Some elderly can be quite easily convinced and probably get worried, just tell her nicely.
