Hi all, I have been reading lots of articles about incentives and benefits for first timers to own their first HDB flat, etc.

All these articles are targetted at newly weds. What about singles?

There is a huge number of singles out there today. Why isnt there anything the government is doing to help singles own their first HDB flat?

With the high cost of living and not so high salary, many of us prefer not to settle down yet and commit till we are more or less stable or sufficient to provide for a home and children, if there may be, in the future...?

With a family, cost of living goes up tremendously and as children grow up, they have needs, etc. They need pocket money. I, for one, think that I am not ready to get married, settle down. I only take home $1199 a month... How to provide for a family and parents? How to ensure all my children if assuming I have 2, gets university education?

With an aging population, government is not doing enough to help singles in terms of housing.

Singles out there what is/are your opinion(s)?

Singaporeans can be the most selfish, *****, ignorant and childish people on the planet.    This is precisely why the PAP can get away with the nonsense they do. People here are take on this your problem, your business attitude and will actually go out of their way to say ***** things to people who are being discriminated upon, just because they feel that they aren't affected by an unfair law, so why should they care? Right?

Worse yet when you fall for the divide and conquer trick by thinking that if someone else is discriminated upon, you can benefit?

This is something you need to read and understand.

When the Nazis came for the communists,I remained silent;
I was not a communist.

When they locked up the social democrats,
I remained silent;
I was not a social democrat.

When they came for the trade unionists,
I did not speak out;
I was not a trade unionist.

When they came for the Jews,
I remained silent;
I wasn't a Jew.

When they came for me,
there was no one left to speak out.

Singaporean Singles also have voting rights.

So they must not be neglected by the Government.

Our minister mentioned that those earning $1000 can also own a flat.

However, with the endless immigration of foreigners into Singapore, causing overpopulation, shortage of housing resources, even those who are married will have to wait several years before they can get their flat.

Most Singaporean singles will think that they have been neglected.

Singles also pay taxes.
We are singles not because we wanted to.
We tried looking but sometimes fate doesn't find us.

We are singles not by choice. Sigh.
So why penalised us for not getting a BTO flat?

HDB can always limit us 3rm or 2rms.
We just want a roof when we are old.
Isn't too much to ask for.

I hope HDB will review the old policy and review it.

YOU BETTER don't get married when you pay only take home $1199 per month.

HARDWORKING is a must in a family. Go work harder, until you died if necessary. That is what "FATHER" are for.

That's not possible cos' we do not encourage singles...but we do accpet double standards, triple train system breakdown, spending almost 4 times less on health comparing to defense, maintain at least 5 million population.......BUT sorry, we do not accept single...
