Warning - one of these days some vans or trucks parking in private estates may be set on fire by fed up people.

Please do something otherwise soon or later something may happen.

The people staying in private estates are boiling mad of outsiders parking affecting their community parking and affecting safety, rubbish trucks movements etc, something will happen if nothing is done as these outsiders are getting very bold and disturbance to the community.

I think it's time that the government do something to set the culture correct in this country.

One simple rule the state should set is to compulsory request for proof of parking space on top of COE before anyone can buy a car.

The state's land should not be allowed for free parking by private property owners, subsidized by the country and taxpayers.

Therefore, if the owner cannot secure a parking space at his/her residence, he/she will not be allowed to own car even if the COE was successfully obtained.

Subsequently, government should also tax additional vehicle by a single household.

2nd car by household pay 150% higher road tax.
3rd car by household pay 200% higher road tax.
4th car by household pay 400% higher road tax.
5th car by household pay 800% higher road tax.

These days many rich household buy cars like buying toys, it is normal to have 2 or 3 cars per household like changing dress.

Something need to be done before the situation is worsen.

You are assuming 1 landed property is stay by one household. Some landed properties are lived by 3 or 4 households living together. Multi-Generations. Still need to get rid of outsiders in the end to solve parking crunch, take the load off first then solve others later.

People from such households are staying in "landed refugee camp", they should not be affording luxury items like car anyway.

If such households are planning for multi-generation on the landed property, they should build sufficient car park space for themselves and not use the nation's land at our taxpayer's expense.

May be they can registered as multi-household with the police station. Identifying the head of household and members of the household, which vehicle is purchased under particular household head.  With that, they can use the police report as proof to obtain road tax at appropriate category.

I remember government saying something about multi-generation supportive living, for show only is it?

That's for HDB housing. Not car parking for private estate.

In what way, subsidised by  the country and taxpayers?

Landed property owners pay taxes too and by logic this taxes go to construction of public hdb car parks but no landed multi-storey car parks, therefore it is the landed property owners subsidising public hdb car parks in a sense if using your words. Shouldn't they as tax payers too have a share in having landed multi-storey car parks? It is because there are no spaces in multi-storey car parks that curb side parking are allowed where possible but many vehicles like vans, lorries and trucks are parking illegally at the expense of landed community and that one major problem that has to be solved.

Please lah, don't make landed property owners sounds so big deal lah, if based on your logic, those who do not own car is subsidizing public car parks too, is subsidizing both landed & non-landed property owners in building so much roads.

If parking is such a BIG issue, car owners should make it a big topic during the election. Not by illegally parking on public places then to get into fights and inconvenient other fellow countrymen.

The police resource is better for catching more thieves and robbers, solving crimes than to settle these car owners' quarrels.

So therefore, the best effective measure is to ensure car owner have adequate parking space before they are allowed to purchase the vehicle.

Oh, you not aware it is already amongst other election issues - ask 3 MPs and they know the landed voting:-

Lim Swee Say - East Coast
Goh Chok Tong - Marine Parade
Lim Hwee Hua - Serangoon Garden

More swing against PAP, not to worry very sure PAP is already aware of the landed swing in votes.

Actually all those road inside the landed estates are not supposed to be for parking.

I think the government took the leeway and allowed the private properties owners to park their cars there and hence do not enforce the law. Eventually people realised this "free parking" and hence capitalize on it too, thus all the rest of the problems.

Simple enforcement either by drawing no parking lines ( exclude everyone whether you are resident or not ) and patrolling would solve 90% of the problems.

However, I think the government refuses to act by stating that the estate is private and hence not within their juristiction.

We have beeen seeing more and more cases of "lazy" government services, from various agencies all the way to even the police.

I think this kind of behaviour should be stopped.

Owners of these affected private estates should bring the matter up to their MPs and it is the MPs jobs to force encouraged the revelant government agencies to take action.

Set on fire?!

It might just be plain foolish, and burn up their homes, and claim lives of loved ones?

"Private estates" means they own the roads outside?

There are Laws and no one is bigger than the Law.

Don't understand why must people go there and disturb the community? Leave them alone. Enough of FT outsiders coming to disrupt Singaporeans, may be they are FT and Singaporeans trying to defend.

I agree that ppl seldom see the big picture. Such evil intents when carried out invite witnesses to the crime. Culprits are punishable with prison sentences and a tag: goodbye future dreams

Plus outsiders quarrelling with outsiders, it is a mess, when more mrt stations come up, even more headaches for landed owners, because outsiders invasion into the community causing problems. Best to solve outsiders invasion problems first then neighbours, if enough spaces, neighbours may not even quarrel, 2 birds with 1 stone.

I am surprised that PM Lee criticizing private house owners using all methods to prevent outsiders from parking in their estates instead of telling outsiders not to park their vehicle in the private housing estates.

He very busy, he sees macro, he needs to sit down to think to see micro and find the source of conflicts. He lacks the time to do it and therefore depend on helpers. Helpers may not be that smart to identify problems or that they are real deep thinkers and gave wrong feedback which they did in the last GE and he got caught by surprise at depth of anger whereas honestly as we got more free time to think to observe and understand, we were more accurate in our assessments than PAP. We did gave warnings on our usual singapore chat forum where we hang around but guess he misses those warnings and views.

allow the owners of the private estate to purchase the stretch of road outside their estates loh.
what's a stretch of road to them anyway?

they can put a road sign "my father's avenue 1", no illegal parking!
to unclamp vechicle, contact owner.

After they "purchased" their Grandfather's road, can you walk there, or cycle there?!

How about adding 1 item to parking fines under

Item 15 - Non community parking at spaces allocated for community parking spaces purposes.

That way can fine lorries, big trucks and vans blocking the light incoming to landed homes which made those homes very dark and those blocking rubbish trucks movements.

If they are owners of landed properties, they can appeal to MP and get waiver.

That will solve a lot of problems of overcrowded and ejecting outsiders out of the community and lifting off some pressures in the community.

Someone can take this idea and email Reach. Thanks.

How careless of me, what if these are owners of landed properties parking their trucks, we can amend to

Item 15 - Non resident parking at spaces allocated for community and resident parking spaces purposes.

Feel free to email this as your idea to relevant authorities.

Cheers :)

Looks good, at least solve some part of problems. MP and Ministers highly paid to solve the rest, we help to solve some good enough.

What did they say
Guest

aiyah, this is the trend, soon or later, something going to happen, question is when only? Warning them only, better think of some solution to get outsiders out of community, that will solve part of the problem, then later solve inter neighbour problems, solve part of it is better than none.
