I read about the sordid saga of Tan Jee Say and LSA over that rental space at Orchard Road COnservation Building. I wonder......what is wrong with a group of SIngpaoreans wantind to discuss the political climate of SIngpaore in a restaurnat and in a rental offcial space?

WHat is wrong with it in a Meritocratic Singapore, supposedly ot be a "From 3rd World to 1st World" COuntry wihtin a Generation?
And yet, in term of freedom of political expression, we are no better than a 3rd World totalitarian state or even a 2nd WOrld North Korea or Cuba?

If a group of politicval science students can discuss SIngpaore politics within NUS-Yale COllege, why can't a group of like-minded Singpaoreans discussed politics in a rentla office or even have socio-political gatehrings wihtin the confine of a commercail space?

What is wrong with that? Isn't it known as "freedom of political expression"..liek you can bellowed and whinged over at Hong Lim Park Speaker Corner?

If we can have a public Speaker Corner, why cna't SIngpaoreans have their very owned "by invitaiton only' or private Speaker Corner?

WHy must SIngpaore Police Force (SDF) intervened in privately roganised talks by Chee Soon Juan, private screening of films by Martyn See or even private and "by invitation only" tele-conferencing with overseas-based  'non-violence protesters"?

We jsut celebrated our Naiton's 47th Brithday, our Naiton is 'Middle-aged" and yet, in terms of freedom of political expression, PAP Government is treating SIngaporeans like 'kindergarten kids" that must have a strong and assertive Nanny watched over them in case they stray from the "one and tur path of Poliical Enlightenings" and be corrupted by "alternative learnings".

Excuse me?
Are Singaporeans still kindergarten kids in terms of political development and assertiveness in freedom of expression?
Socialism and COmmunism died with the collapse of Berlin Wall and dismantling of USSR, albeitly there is an upsurge fo Fascism and Marxism due to current European Economy hardships.

But isn't Midlle-aged SIngpaore able to handle all these with almost 99% literal rate and every SIngpaorean has at least 9 years of primary and secondary school educaiton, in the English Language mind you?

Sure, when you open a window for a whiff of fresh air, flies will come in.
But isn't there is sufficient safeguard with our efficient SPF, ISD and the draconian ISD Acts and Seditions Acts and 'Imprisonment wihtout Trials' well in palced to nab extremists and insurgents?

It is tiem for PAP Government to dismantle all those draconian and totalitarian measures set in place in their "life-and-death" struggles with ultras and extremists in teh 1960s, 1970s and 1980s and move on to 21st Century SIngapore to develop SIngaporeans who have freedom of expression without fear.

Will AH Loong and his NEWBlood have the guts and * to go against the remnants of Old Guards within PAP Hierarchy, re-make Singapore and set a new and fresh direction for a new climate of freedom of political expression for Gen-Y and Gen-Z Singaporeans.

Otherwise, of what use of a NUS-Yale College to develop a new generation fo Singaporeans well suited to thrive within the narrow confine of a totalitarian state with absolute control of freedom of political expression. A sheer waste of public funds then.
