The World and Us
Today, after 47 years of independence Singapore have grown to about 5 million and though there are impending domestic issues in society and politics, it would take some time to ease some hiccups and unhappiness (as there will always be) and for politicians to work cohesively for a better tomorrow. Though I belong to the older generation, I agree with our PM that successful ones should help unfortunate citizens to solve problems whatever age they may be. Let us be mindful that native Singaporeans need to be more open minded, accept changes (no one likes it, anyway), and let our young minds assist the old minds. The younger Singaporeans though less matured may be interested in short term gains. Few may not visualize the impact of long term strategies in our national policies. I trust that matured minister like Mr Heng Swee Kiat and others would take directives from our PM to control the flow of ideas from younger MPs or grassroot leaders and we are yet to see re-invent policies that will benefit our citizens, young and old, rich or poor.
The ever changing economic and financial markets in the world have impacted bigger countries like US, India and China. They have matured leaders in their respective countries. History have shown older politicians have done better than the younger lot. Of course the younger ones should be given reign in national policies, take risks and challenges but giving total control would not be prudent. Facts and reality are more important than mere opinions expressed by individuals. But definitely Singapore require old and young politicians with a driving force that listens attentively to feedbacks of all citizens and are willing to keep to their promises to direct our nation to face new social challenges for new families, new citizens and our aging population.
With more care and support given by our government and individual, there can be no perfection in both. With one spirit and mind, we can still move on with our life as we believe and work with determination to love our home, truly.

$150,000 below 1600cc car.
Before you can tell us about SPIRIT.
My wages cannot afford all that and my boss is getting all that. Not willing to increase wages as there is so many cheap labour from China / India etc etc.
Even europe are coming here to work. They stay in europe, they are beggers in the street in europe.
Singapore welcome beggers in open arms.

The old often have better and more experience.
The young on the other hand is more daring to try new things and more energy.
As all things, too many of 1 type is seldom good. So the thing is to get a mixture.
However, the very most important attribute is neither age or expeience nor energy. It is the ability to listen and correct as necessary.
There are many paths to the same destination, willingness to share and listen is more critical that bulldozing your way through.
