Openet contractors are currently connected the fiber to the residential units in our condominium.

Since the contractors are assigned to the estate during this few weeks, I have asked our condo manager to make sure that Openet contractor connect the fibre to the management office. This is to ensure that  the management office can upgrade and be more productive with the latest IT services.

Initially the contractor said OK and scheduled an appointment. When the day came for installation, the contract workers survered the office and realized that the junction box was placed a distance away from the office. The contractor then called their supervisor and said that the unit is an "Office" hence it is a commercial unit and so did not want to connect up.

The contractor advised the condo management to contact the internet service provider to ask for fiber connection. What a waste of time and resources.

IDA should step in here and make some sense to Openet, since they are spending taxpayers money.
If Openet do the connection now when the workers are doing other unit, it will be more efficient and productive than to have it wired up by a different "commercial unit " contractor.

Condo management offices are not for profit organizations, under the MCST act. It exists to serve the residents, hence it is as good as being a residential unit.

When SCV did their wiring many years ago, they were able to provide termination points to management office and function rooms in the condo. I don't understand why Openet should be different, especially since they are funded by tax payers money.

Openet no common sense, no wonder they are way behind schedule.

Bad news my friend.
I had written to Mr. Khaw Boon Wan on similar issue when SCDF (FSSD) classified MCST Office as 'Commercial Offcie....and also gym as "Place of Public Resort".

I wrote that it is ridiculous for a condo where MCST Office is a necessity and Gym/FUnciton Room/Swiming Pool are what defined a "condo" from "apartment".

SO far, no one in MND has the balls to come out with a clear definition that MCST Office, gym/funciton room/ longe/ cclub house are considered "Type 2 purpose Building", i.e. "Residential".

Go to www.scdf.gov.sg and read-up "Fire Code 2007" to udnerstand why MCST Offcie is classified as "Commercial Space".

Becasue Fire Code 2007 had no explicit definition for "MCST Offcie", "Gym", "FUnciton Room". in codno in Fire Code 2007!
Resulting in kaisu kaisi petit Hitler" anyhow define a s"commercial space"...maybe making more money in planning charges for URA., for MND???

Yoru case, and my case, my friend, just show what Ah Loong meant when he glibly mouther during GE2011:
"Every Singaporean counts! We are ehre tos erve you., not lord over you".
All baloney.
It simply means that:
"Never mind what you think, we know what is best for you as to how to serve you.
Now, fetch my slippers will you so that I can walk to serve you."

Well, I am a very patient man and I expect Khaw Boon Wan to reply to my query..... say..in 2016, just before Ah Loong hit teh campaign trail?

Well said my friend.

Recently we had incidents of killer litter,  littering and smoking in lift lobbies in our condo.
We seek assistance from NEA on how to manage such problems.

Giess what NEA said that this is a private property. For killer litter please report to police, for the rest you have to manage it yourself.

So much for an inclusive society, we private property owners are lowest class citizens left out in the cold.
Should we exist like the Vatican City, a state within a state where we have our own laws ?

We all pay taxes too ( and more) by the way. No GST rebates, No conservative rebates, cannot buy HDB flats, that whay we are the lowest class citizens.

On the other hand, we fixed an appointment with OPENET COntractor and they did a pretty good job in wiring up into my apartment on May 2, 2012.
Quite neatly done too as it was surfaced run.
