Openet contractors are currently connected the fiber to the residential units in our condominium.
Since the contractors are assigned to the estate during this few weeks, I have asked our condo manager to make sure that Openet contractor connect the fibre to the management office. This is to ensure that the management office can upgrade and be more productive with the latest IT services.
Initially the contractor said OK and scheduled an appointment. When the day came for installation, the contract workers survered the office and realized that the junction box was placed a distance away from the office. The contractor then called their supervisor and said that the unit is an "Office" hence it is a commercial unit and so did not want to connect up.
The contractor advised the condo management to contact the internet service provider to ask for fiber connection. What a waste of time and resources.
IDA should step in here and make some sense to Openet, since they are spending taxpayers money.
If Openet do the connection now when the workers are doing other unit, it will be more efficient and productive than to have it wired up by a different "commercial unit " contractor.
Condo management offices are not for profit organizations, under the MCST act. It exists to serve the residents, hence it is as good as being a residential unit.
When SCV did their wiring many years ago, they were able to provide termination points to management office and function rooms in the condo. I don't understand why Openet should be different, especially since they are funded by tax payers money.
Openet no common sense, no wonder they are way behind schedule.
