FOREIGNERS APLENTY @ LUCKY PLAZA

The Singapore Government reason to attract Foreign Talent was to fill the vacancies for Jobs Singaporeans are not taking?  I can understand that.

Now go to Lucky Plaza.  You see businesses run and managed by a certain group of Foreigners; for bar girls, pimps  to hair dressers, from cafes to money services; cosmetics to garments shops;  you name it - Al foreign operated mostly.   Do you consider these operators Foreign Talent?  For example a hair dressing salon.   Owner - Foreigner, Workers all foreigners, customers all foreigners.

MOM what has gone wrong with your Foreign Talent policies?    This place is a country within a country  This place is an enclave.  How could this happen?  Is this the type of citizens or foreigners we are attracting? They work here, they do business here and they transfer all the cash back to their home country and you Government say it is good for Singaporeans?  Good for Singapore?   This is a joke.

take it easy...

this is inevitable, when there is a sizeable population of manual labourers and domestic workers in a country, they tend to look for local comforts and services. this is not peculiar to singapore... it is just that lucky plaza is very visible in at the scotts/orchard junction. no one is calling them foreign talent... as long as there is a business opportunity, there will be a supplier willing to offer goods and services

other places like peninsula , little india, parkway, are all enclaves as well and it is natural. you don't hav3e to look hard to see that china towns and little italys have sprouted all over the states as well.

If you are a visitor you are not suppose to work here.  The likelyhood they have been given PR status if not Singapore citizenship.  My question: Is this is what Foreign Talent is all about?
