Private Estate Car Park, Community Living And Outsiders Parking

The problem in private estate car parking is mainly due to selfish behaviours of outsiders who invaded into private estates to claim free curb side parking as their own private parking space thereby affecting landed owners community living.

go to singapore chat forum for more or google title, will help you understand why, can't put link,

Private estate carpark shouldn't be given at all. It's blocking all the traffic. In their own home. They already have a CARPARK.

No excuse to blame it on the outsider when they park there. They have the same rights to park there too since it's valid for all. "Who come first. Who park FIRST. ".

It's easy to solve. DRAW carpark LOT AND MAKE IT PAY LAH. Like HDB, $4 dollars per night. Problem solved. Just outside their private estate carpark.

Why cannot ? MP living there huh ?

In what way it is valid for who comes who first since outsiders are not living in the community?

It is the same as outsiders complaining against residents of Little India who had complained of having to face noise disturbance and nuisance daily since they are living there. Outsider simply has no basis and no rights as they don't live there to face the disturbance and nuisance daily. That's call community living, the community must have a say, same as how would one feel if foreigners demand Singapore to behave in certain ways in Singapore community. What rights have foreigners impose demands on Singapore community?

Hey, you clown, don't know how to argue, shut up, don't even use your brains. I am having parking problems in my hdb estate and you think you so smart to say 1st come 1st serve, wait then the government also imposes such an rule on hdb estate and disallow resident priority, then where i park, i park at your house whenever i come home late, your brainless only know how to shoot your mouth, how old are you? 3 years old? Go back kindergarten and study first then come here to think and talk.

Free riders can only exist for a while. Look at NYC or London. Strict tow away zones in all city centre landed properties. Limited season parking lots with very high charges to reflect the cost of land in that location, and priority given to residents who can prove nearest residence ownership.

Landed property owners won't get the free ride for long. Other opportunists will also be priced out soon with limited season parking lots.

We are first world, so there will be first world pricing and enforcement.

Sorry I changed the title to "Private Estate Car Parking, Community Living And Outsiders Parking"

Why didn't I write to ST Forum?

Because I prefer to remain hidden, in the background, not looking for spotlight.

Feel free to copy and email to ST Forum.

Scare the truth ? Asking the authority to draw carpark lots in front of your house ?

Make it $4 DOLLARS PER NIGHT ?

I SAY IT'S ABOUT TIME BEFORE THEY START TO THINK.

PRIVATE ESTATE WHEN IT'S JUST A PUBLIC ROAD.

THERE IS NO EXCUSE. SINGAPORE IS GETTING CROWDED. IT'S TIME TO HAVE LAW AND ORDER ON THIS CARPARK BUSINESS IN THE PRIVATE ESTATE AREA.

Don't mean your house cost a few millions and you expect the Public road outside your private house is "FREE" PARKING.

This is your standard of thinking? Wah liao, everybody also knows, but why they didn't implement? Have you think further or not? Plus, your free parking point, not sure if it is a logical point to begin with, seriously, bro, you need to think further and if i were you and hang around long enough, i avoid the thread starter, just a helpful advice, go and view other threads and you know what i mean. :)

Real low standard of thinking, think of only night parking, what about day parking? outsiders park the entire day affecting residents going in and out, please lah, so low standards, go home and sleep lah, disgraceful !

Thanks but not thanks. All are welcome to present the points for good debating. It is only through robust exchanges we learn and improve, of course as long the points made are sensible and reasonable. Don't avoid the thread starter, we learn from each other, please feel free to debate. Let's enjoy sharpening of our minds.

Forgot to add, welcome your arguments and counter arguments, please be logical, convincing and give it some thought before writing.

It is pointless to debate against illogical and nonsensical arguments, waste of time.

I went to singapore chat forum to read, the argument is clear and reasonable. The PAP government didn't provide for any car parking in private estates.

I agree with what you have written, clear and reasonable,

Don't bother to argue as some didn't read so don't know what they are talking about, just shooting off their mouths as usual, this is the problem when identity not known, they are careless in reading and writing.

These outsiders are no different from foreigners invading Singapore. Selfish and self centered people affecting the harmony and community of Singapore. Pests and Locusts, treat them the same as foreigners invading Singapore, eject them out of Singapore or we go invade their turfs, see if they complained or not, these very same people if after buying landed will turn around and scold others for invading their community. What a joke, why waste time debating with rude, unreasonable people who don't think?

These "foreigners" like to impose their thinking on Singapore community, that's why residents are unhappy and voted against PAP. Fed up of arrogant "foreigners" disturbing the community and Singapore !

In land scarce Singapore, maybe we should not even allow landed housing. It is the least efficient use of land and greatly subsidisng the rich for the land they own.  If the plot of land for landed housing can build multistorey building, that means the value of the land should be many folds higher. Why are these landed housing owners not taxed a "land potential use" tax?

Those living in landed properies are already very well to do and rich. Most of their houses already have a space enough to park 1 car. It is when they have a second car then they use the road outside to park FOC. Now the car population has increased so much so that they start to compete with "outsiders" and that is making them very unhappy. This is a selfish behaviour, nothing to do with the community around their housing estate. Why don't they complain about such "outsider" parking 10 years ago when there are not many such incidences?

I agree with the suggestion to draw car parking lots on the roads outside these landed housing, but not on season parking basis. Season parking is a government subsidy scheme for HDB residents, so private housing residents should not be entitled to such a subsidy for their own benefit.  The lots should be normal white lots and those who want to park overnight pay the normal $4 rate.  This is fair to everyone.  The road belongs to the public, not exclusively to the landed housing owners.  If they want to buy more than 1 car, then nobody owes them a car park lot for that matter.
