There are plenty of Flippino and Mynmarese "Foreign Talents" earning between S$4,500 to $6,000pm displaying those ageing bbay-boomers who still want to work beyond their 63 year old, but need to cut their salary expectation to S$4,000pm to S$4,500pm to compete with 30 to 40 year odl FOreign Talents doing the same job.

Isn't that is whay USA and EU are slapping "anti-dumping" duties on imported CHiense goods because their local companies cannot compete with cheep cheep labour in China?

SO, why can't PAP Government start slapping 'anti-dumping" duties onto construciton companies and enginerring services companies as follows:
1 - Employment Pass Holder - S$1,000pm levy.
2 - "S" or "Q" Work Permit holder - S$1,000pm levy.

The quota system should be:
70% Singaporeans and 30% PR + Foreigners for PMET of salary S$3,000 and above

A 40+ year old Malay SIngaporean (poly graduate) is earning S$8,000pm.
A 60+ SIngpaorean (poly graduate) can eaisly earned S$6,500 to S$8,000pm as Resident Engineer
A 60+ Resident Technical Officer (ITE graduate) can eaisly earned S$6,000pm including overtime.

But a young FLippino or Indian or Mynamarese engineer will accept S$4,00pm to S$4,500pm to undercut "expensive" ageing baby-boomers.

And you can see for mega-projects in SIngapore, Flippino galore with a large sprinkling of Myamnarese.

Worse, Japanese and Korean and CHinese cosntruciton companies are now sending their inexperienced and young engineering graduates from their home countries to work in SIngpaore to gain construciton experience.
How can it be that during this current cosntruction booms, we are training FOREIGN TALENTS (mind you, those young Japanese, Korean and CHinese engineers are really talented displaying knowledge and good work ethics) instead fo SIngpaoreans?

During HDB COnstruciton Boom and MRT COsntruciton boom, why can't PAP Government set a quota of said...50% SIngpaoreans 50% FT to froce cosntruciton companies to employ SIngaporeans?
ANd forcifully refused to issue WOrk permits and EMployment Passes even if they cna't fidn SIngpaoreans?

All they have to do is to re-employ those 60+ SIngpaoreans whoa re now working in the cosntruciton industry..instead of replacing them with S$4,000pm to $5,000pm FT.

By the way, what is percentage of SIngaporeans are employed by Surbana (100% owned by Temasek Holdings), HDB and LTA?

It is not a matter of Singaporeans refusing to work in the cosntruciton idnustry, but a matter of ageing baby-boomers who are willing to continue to work in the construciton industry are being driven out of it by even statutory boards and Temasek-owned companies who preferred to employ cheep cheep foreign talents at S$4,000 to S$5,00pm, ratehr than 60+ year old SIngaporeans at S$5,000 to S$6,000pm.

Sad isn't it, with Ah Loong and his NEWBlood Teram keep on bragging of improving salaries of SIngpaorean cleaners, healthcare attendant, waitresses, janitors and gardeners from S$1,000pm to S$2,000pm............................instead of helping those 60+ year odl SIngaporeans whoa re now earning S$5,000pm to S$6,00pm to retain their jobs in construciton industry.

SOrry lah!
No young punks applied, only foreigners and above 50 year old SIngaporeans who started working in the construciton industry in the 1970s.

Sad is it when since 1990s, as a cost-cutting measures, cosntruciton companies employed cheep cheep Indians and CHinese engineers, leaving out one whole genertation of young SIngpaorean engineers and supervisors misisng formt eh SIngpaore cosntruciton idnustry.

It is bakc to square oen in 2012, and I hope more fresh SIngpaorean graduates from poly and uni are prepared to work in teh cosntruciton industry, gain teh encessary expereicne and move up to middle-level management within 5 years, i.e. by 2020, we will see a core of SIngpaoreans taking over 70% of the middle and senior management posts available in the cosntruciton indsutry.

If a 40+ year old Malay SIngpaorean, a poly graduate and now tkaing a part-tiem degree at SIM, is earning S$8,000pm..why cna't young SIngpaoreans consider cosntruciton industry as a career?

As of now, the only SIngpaoreans applying for S$4,000 to S$6,000pm supervisory jobs in teh cosntruciton idnsutry are yes, ageing baby-boomers.......and no 30 year old SIngpaoreans.....the rare few who are working as engineers and designers in air-cond ddesign office...certianing not slogging ti out in a 'dangerous, demanding, dirty" site work in a full-time supervisory roles.
