Many people felt giving birth is a personal issue, govt shouldn't fund or help.  To them, we're too demanding, like parasites, so annoying.  DPM Teo wanted to find ways to increase birth rate, fat hope!

Pro-family policies will affect certain people's interest so govt will continue to say-say but not do anything to help working parents, especially both working in order to cope with Spore's high living standard. Parents, continue to feel alone and frustrated, Conflict of Interest, this is your personal issue, not worth Nation's attention. Let couples 死心 eventually decide that not giving birth is the best or the only option.

Birth rate will continue to drop but population will be increased by influx of foreigners. Give out more employment passes and dependant passes and hope they convert be Sporeans.  If plan failed, too bad, you got to pay the price for not helping locally born Sporeans who lose out to FT.

Let FT take away all the highly paid jobs and press down citizens' salary.... this is many people's selfish wish.  So grant them, make these group of people happy, sacrifice your citizens!!

EXTINCTION is Singapore's PROBLEM.

Singaporeans are not going to be extinct if we don't allow it. We shouldn't allow our leaders to play us either. Do you really think that they are worried about the TFR? Or are they merely using TFR to their ends? Think again.

either PAP not looking far ahead or blinded with special love for foreigners... pinning hopes on them to convert as Sporeans and give birth to more newccitizens.

One day, if Spore run by Indians from India or filipino from Philippines (if they convert to Sporeans) maybe PAP realise the meaning of juicy posts taken over by FT.... then they will start to think of locally born citizens who were forsaken to make way for FT.

Now fire not burning on them, can't feel the pain.

Note: convert to Sg can still reverse and leave as a foreigner.

I think the government should change track.  Instead of focusing on the Mother-to-be, she should instead :
- Give Father-to-be up to two months paternity leave.
- All costs for maternity and paternity leave to be borne by the Government.  Employers to submit claims as and when necessary.
- Besides medical leave, have a separate maternity medical care leave for Mother-to-be.  This is to be claimed from the Government.
- Company's who employ Singapore/PR ladies who give birth and register the children as Singapore Citizen, should be given extra quota to employ Work Permit/S-Pass (that is valid for one year from the time of maternity leave taken). This way, Employer's will welcome staff who gets pregnant and able to employ extra staff if necessary to cover her duties for up to a year.

What a lousy idea. Then which company wants to hire Singaporean? Later your wife pregnant, then you gone for 2 months, who do your job? It's not the money issue, it's who's going to do your work?Hire part time foreigner? What an even worse idea. Our country not enough foreigners? Later the foreigner does the job so well that take over your place, then how?????
