last i checked, this is not a communist or socialist country...
i may not have a fraction of the wealth of some of these elites, but i don't begrudge anyone spending money that they earn through honest means. it is not as if the money is spent on ostentacious luxury objects like private jets... this is a clean room for a sick boy for goodness sake.
good for them... but i don't expect hand outs

Correct.
But even people buy private jet or million dollars pleasure cruise, that is not for us to red eye. They make their money and have all the rights to spend on whatever they want.

exactly, i don't understand some of the jealousy that goes on in here...
if i had to choose between my son dying of cancer and have $10m in my bank account, or a healthy son and $1 in my bank account, i know what i would choose...
i guess the thread starter would choose $10m?

During their absence, the Minister said one of biggest tasks was to oversee the renovation of the family home, as his son needed a clean environment for recovery upon his return.
"That was quite a stressful period for me. I didn't notice it but people who saw me said I looked a wreck. I must have," quipped the 56-year-old, who is also the MP for Aljunied GRC.
If a common people SON got that cancer. They will be DEAD due to his lousy POLICY he make.
His own SON no problem. Can ask contractors to do "CLEAN ROOM" which cause millions.
WHERE IS SINGAPOREAN'S WELL=FARE ?

HONEST living my backside. Sit in the post. Change the LAW to their business advantage.
GOVT shouldn't hold any business in the first place. No director, no shareholder.
You call that HONEST LIVING ?

Exactly.
Same with private properties. The PAP claim to be clean and honest yet their assets aren't declared like any other clean honest governments in the world.
They way they let any foreigner buy property here with virtually no restriction when countries many times our size see the need to curb foreign ownership, jacking up prices here on this tiny island... How much conflict of interest is there for them to keep housing afffordable for locals and for them to drive upmprices to increase the price of their many, many undisclosed properties?
Property investment is also a business.. And just like you said, they twist the laws to favor their businesses then claim to be brilliant businesmen.
This is why they lose billions abroad where they actually have to play on a level field and their cluelessness shines.

Having taken over the reins of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) from incumbent Mr S. Jayakumar in 2004, Mr Yeo told Yahoo! Singapore in an exclusive interview that it was a challenging period for him and his family when he received the news of his son's health condition.
The only way for him to save his son was for him to undergo a bone marrow transplant. Doctors said his son had a one-in-four chance of surviving. His son was then sent to the St Jude Children's
Research Hospital in the US for treatment, said Mr Yeo, who is married to lawyer Jennifer Leong. They have two other sons and a daughter.
It was then that his wife, children and mother-in-law made the heart-wrenching decision to move to the US for nine months while Yeo remained in Singapore.
During their absence, the Minister said one of biggest tasks was to oversee the renovation of the family home, as his son needed a clean environment for recovery upon his return.
( WHAT A BIG TASK ! How many millions you spend on this ? )
"That was quite a stressful period for me. I didn't notice it but people who saw me said I looked a wreck. I must have," quipped the 56-year-old, who is also the MP for Aljunied GRC.

This Stinky Brainy Black Heart says,
"clean room" is not to clean a room. It is the room that the
air is being filtered
before it enters into the room, so that there is no dirt or particle. The air is circulating 24hrs. This requires the room to be airtight and to fix a system and run the motor 24/7.

Not everyone is "brainy" (that one is especially so sit-to-pig).
