Dear Sir/Madam

I am very unhappy over the prices charged at Singapore attractions like Sentosa, the Night Safari, Jurong Bird Park, Universal Studio, the Science Centre, Gardens by the Bay, other attractions as well as movie theatres all over Singapore. These places are very useful because they provide educational and enriching content that can definitely enhance the minds and horizons of Singaporeans. I just don't understand why there is a need to charge such high prices for Singaporeans to experience such important educational, interesting and exciting content and activities in their own country?

The high fees are charged not only for admission but also for the various sights they contain. I think these places should offer as many free activities as possible for Singaporeans and should completely reduce their fees so that all Singaporeans (regardless of income) can truly stand to benefit. These are educational and entertaining treasurehouses which Singaporeans should not miss out on just because they cannot afford them.

How will a low-income or no-income Singaporean with very little savings feel when only people who can afford are able to visit all these attractions? They will feel that Singapore is not an inclusive place to live in.

I think Singapore will be a truly inclusive place when Singaporeans are able to enjoy attractions in Singapore without worrying about whether they can afford them.

I sincerely hope you could address my concerns.

Thank you.

Yours faithfully

Bhavani

This Stinky Brainy Black Heart says,

these attractions are meant for TOURISTS.  Attractions are to attract TOURISTS.

Singaporeans, please try not to go EVEN if you can afford the price.  Because If you all 1 people 2 people all come, these places very the crowded.  This will make our TOURISTS feel congested, not much fun. TOURIST SATISFACTION guaranteed.

The high prices is correct.  To deter you all no -money -people to go in and to make more profit.

if you understand what I said, you should understand by the prices are set high.

While it is natural for Singapore to gun for higher value tourism, investments and immigration, we need to be mindful not to overdo it. Let prices run amok and things can unravel very quickly.

The attraction of a place lies partly in the diversity of people, opinions, places, experiences and service quality. All this will converge and homogenise when low cost options are withdrawn by the Government, when people feel they have to stick to the highest paying jobs to earn a decent living, when people have to work their guts out and have little time to go any extra mile for employer or customer, etc.

I think we are at that point where we have to make these choices. We can squeeze more money out but I think it will damage us in the medium to long term. We have to loosen things on the cost front and allow some space for varied industries and interests to grow. It will make this place much richer.

Singaporean do not visit these places often. I understand that cheaper fees are charged for groups that are organised by Residents Committees and other civic organisations. The higher prices are set for foreigners and tourists.

There should be two tiers of prices. Locals should pay less than foreigners. (As in China,) This in turn will attract repeat visits from citizens. And children up to 16 and accompanied by at least one parent, should enter free. (As in Switzerland) This will make it pro family  and encourage family bonding as well as reduce the bueden of bringing up kids.

Who ask you to be so poor? No money, don't dream of going. You think everything must be free? Don't be so silly and think you are entitled to everything.

Recently I get to know that a kids educational museum in Msia offers the local a lower admission fees to the local.

I think that is a good news to the local.

Gardens by the Bay did lower the fee for residents. I hope that others parks (that entrance fee applied) can offer similar previledged for the citizens.
