You know in the 1990s, in preparation for the new Millenium, there was a study like the public transportation inter-connecting like a "DIamond" or "KIte"-shaped along the coastal lines with longitudinal "backbones" connecting both four corners.

We are almost there with Woodlands MRT LIne connecting North-West zone, Circle Line, Downtown Line, Eastern Line and Thomson Line forming the "DIamond" and "Backbones".

But one missing element is the North_East Corridor, linking Pasir Ris (EW LIne) to Punggol (NEL) and Khatib (NS Line) which will complete the "Diamond" and a quantum leap in reliability if any MRT LIne breaks down as commuters can switch direction of travel to anywhere in SIngapore.

WIth the rapid growth of the Seletar Aviation Hub, future Jalan Kayu/Seletar HDB estates and not forgetting Punggol21 has yet to reach its peak, it is time for MOT to plan forward to aviod those kind of traffic grid-locks that we are expereincing now at NSEW MRT LInes, or virtually at all the MRT Lines, unable to cope with the rapid growth in tourist arrivals and also the exponential growth in foreign workers to man the expanding SIngapore Economy.

If we are two have two airports - CHangi and Seletar - then it makes sense to link both of them up as soon as possible with a Rapid Transit System; not so much for teh convenience of travellers, but also for the convenience of SInapaorean commuters working at both airports, aviation hubs and the growing CHangi Internaitonal Business Park..and students at SUTD.

Can't we have a 5-Year Masterplan..say to link up Khatib (or Yio CHu Kang?) - Seletar Aviaiton Hub - Lorong Halus - Punggol - Pasir Ris - Changi Airport - CHangi Point?

And of course, if we want to utilise Sembawang AIrbase, then from Khatib, we can have a spur line linking up to Sembawang Airbase.

It is time to convert our airbases to an industrial-military complex to maximise land usage for teh future development of Singapore.

Paya Lebar Airbase?
With the linking up of Sembawang AIrbase, Seletar Airbase and CHangi Airbase via MRT Lines; and the impending decommissioning of Seletar Water Reclamation Plant, Seletar Airbase can be expanded to takeover the role of Paya Lebar AIrbase. SImilarly, Sembawang AIrbas is under-utlisied, it is secluded and located far away from residential areas and will make an ideal airbase to takeover the role of Paya Lebar Airbase. It cna be converted into SIngapore's 2nd Aviaiton Hub to complement Seletar Avaition Hub then.

De-commission Paya Lebar Airbase and revert the land to residential development, especially with plenty of room for HDB estates.
