A man died on Saturday morning after he was hit by a hijacked taxi at the driveway in front of the Budget Terminal.

The 34-year-old Indian man, Mr Chandra Mogan, a cleaner on duty at the airport, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics at 7.13am.

The police received a call at about 6.50am regarding an assault by a 30-year-old Chinese national passenger on a 57-year-old taxi driver along the stretch of Airport Boulevard in front of SATS In-flight Catering Centre 1.

The passenger, who was headed for Changi Airport, started getting violent towards the taxi driver during the journey, said a statement released by Comfort Delgro.

The taxi driver later activated the distress button and got out of the cab.

According to Comfort Delgro spokesperson Tammy Tan, the passenger had also stepped out and allegedly started to attack the driver.

Police said the passenger was later seen taking over the wheel and driving the taxi towards the direction of the Budget Terminal.

The taxi hit Mr Mogan along the driveway of the terminal and smashed into a glass side door next to McDonald's. A traffic light was also badly damaged.

A spokesperson from the Singapore Civil Defence Force said they received a call at about 6.52am and one ambulance was dispatched.

The injured Chinese national suffered from head abrasions and was conveyed to Changi General Hospital.

Witnesses said the man had tried to flee but was stopped by passers-by. He was detained at the scene and police investigations are still ongoing.

Mr Mogan's family is in Johor and he has four children, aged between three months and 10 years.

Again, anti-chinese racist elements trying to blow up a matter when we have little evidence to go on. The outrage is because an indian is involved, thus the ***** elements are making a big cry that an Indian life is gone and demanding the life of a chinese man whom was reported was frustrated by the antics of the taxi driver.
If the deceased was chinese, there would not be such a ruckus and the matter will be downplyed.

Is this the tip of the iceberg?

The bulk of the iceberg is hidden from view.

Remember the "Unsinkable Titanic".

If really prove of unsound mind, then:

1. The Director of  Immigration Deaprtment should be sacked for causing grievance and hurt to others.

2. The employer should have purchased extra insurnce for 3rd party or deported this PRC long ago.

3. MoM should have revoked his work pass during a failed medical check- up.

How come all these loopholes still exist?

The Singapore Government is so backwards.

If this PRC is a tourist, he should be accompanied by a relative at ALL TIMES and extra insurance ie like USA or Canada.

If this PRC is here to work, then the Stat Board Directors must be sacked. Their lame excuses and lousy net without accountability is shocking!

57 year old taxi driver is former employee at Goldman Sach trading in derivatives for over 20 years.

Hidden local talent displaced by FT China National.

That's why the quarrel started.

Malaysians can integrate well here for the past 30 years. Indians have been peace- loving people, although we know their nasty side, too. However, PRCs villages seems to be the worst lot. All these news sprawled over the newspaper have shown that they CANNOT and unable to integrate in Singapore.

But for this case, the PRC man became violet, then hijack a taxi, worst, KILLED an innocent man! I hope the law in Singapore is truly built on justice and equality. He should pay be electrocuted to death under the law.

This is not a matter of opinion. It is about our laws and the judiciary. Let us watch carefully how this whole show is played out to reflect our leaders' stance and the independence of our judiciary.

Agree.

Singapore and Malaysia has been long-time and will be FOREVER neighbours. The government should give Malaysia a justified answer for this case.

The Singapore government has not been able to handle and manage all these influx of foreigners for so long. . . . and the social values have been eroded.

Let's count the damage:

1  taxi driver lost income.

1 Malaysian cleaner killed

Family of 1 wife plus 4 young children lost their father and financial support

1 taxi gone case

1 cleaning buggy gone case

1 traffic light gone case

McDonald glass broke

All because PAP like Foreign trashes!

Huat ah....!

These are the grateful FTs visiting us here.

He was returning back on his expected flight, thinking that he wont come back, he decided to enrich himself with robbery, as he would be on a flight out!

"Thanks."

We are so "grateful".

Enough is enough! How long must we allow those Stupig PRCs to mess around in Singapore?
This is not *****ing CHINA where they can get away with things because they are FARKING rich.

We should make an example of him by giving him the most severe sentence.
He did not only killed a man, he also highjacked a taxi and assaulted a taxi driver.
I read on other websites that he was heard after the accident saying 那你要怎么样?(literally then what do you want?)
If we let him off lightly, we are sending a message to S'poreans and foreigners from other countries besides PRC, your life is worthless. It is purely bad luck that you are killed by a PRC, coz we want them more than you.

They are also sending a message to the PRCs, come to S'pore. No matter what you do, you will not be severely prosecuted. We will give you the slightest of sentence, like we did to the CRAZY (Feng) actress who became violent on the taxi and got away with a slap on the wrist.

Hope that he will be severely punished.
Sincerely hope that he will get his just desserts.
If he is let off lightly, then may the ghost of the innocent man come back and haunt him.

I am sadden to read ad hear of the loss of a life in this incident. No amount of money can buy life. My heart and prayers go out to the family especially the children who has lost their father.

As for the driver of the car, I pray that the full force of Singapore's strict laws will come on him and justice is served for the victim's family.
