Singapore has travelled from Third World to First, but what is the next chapter in the Singapore Story? What do we want Singapore to be 20 years from now?

Touching on Singapore’s shared future in his National Day Rally Speech, Prime Minister (PM) Lee Hsien Loong, shared that the next chapter in the Singapore Story to be about Hope, Heart and Home, where we look to our shared future with confidence and Hope; where we treat one another and others too with a big Heart; and where we build for our children and grandchildren our best Home.

He highlighted while some trends such as a more mature economy, ageing society and better educated generation are foreseeable, others such as technological advances & breakthroughs, are not. PM Lee added that while it is important for Singapore to keep improving in a rapidly changing world to adapt to changes and to exploit new opportunities in order to thrive, he emphasised that Singapore’s future is not predetermined.

He calls for all to actively join the national conversation on Our Singapore lead by Education Minister Heng Swee Keat, to contribute ideas and to work together to create a better Singapore.

Share with us your views on Singapore’s shared future - “A Home with Hope and Heart”.

Yeah, Singapore’s shared future - “HOPELESSLY Expensive & Unaffordable Living Expenses", "HEARTLESSLY Replaced By Foreign Trash” and "HOMELESSLY not your Singapore anymore". - Feelings of true Singaporeans fed up of Singapore current state today and will not be published offline by pro-government media in any newspaper.

Don't believe, above will be repeatedly uttered by many on many online forums.

Don't mind me lah, I just a little faster only. Anyway just saying true feelings of many Singaporeans only.

Please walk the talk - to be big hearted and gracious to this funny view.

Treat it as just another addition to earlier rhymes, short humourous songs, parodies that I have written for here.

Cheers, relax and remember your own words - big hearted and gracious.

Ha ha ha.

Another version :--

Hopeless Overcrowded and Expensive

Heartlessly Replaced by Foreign Trash & Retrenched.

Homelessly Driven Out of Budget By Rich Foreigners or Homelessly Cannot Even Recognise Your Own Country

Any other version to share?

Wonder if speech writers for PM Lee calculate ahead the possibility of such satirical re-wordings by jokers like us? Stay cool, big hearted and gracious, Cheers :)

This is indeed the first time that the General sent his soldiers to the frontline to be shot and killed. So here goes:

1)  Lawrence Wong
Based on his limited understanding of Happiness, he used poor examples to deceive the public by abusing it with Satifsfaction.  He negligently forgot the 3 factors before Happiness can be achieved, and therefore, his cases become baseless?

2) Halimah
What Dream Big and give people Hope? When it was PAP who destroyed our dreams so, where to find any hope? So, did Halimah create hopes for 2% of the jobless citizens?

3) Heng SK
Nurture talent that the economy reject for what? 30% of the foreign companies think that our education is trash. They rather transfer more Unwanted and semi-talent foreigners here!

4) PM Lee
Yes, we are a small island but yet you bring in Fake Foreign Talents for the past 10 years. Therefore, we refuse to have a big heart to generously accept any of them! We really love to continue to shame this country and especially your team.

Singaporeans have too big heart, that's why foreigners are climbing over our head. Singaporeans believe in meritocracy, but foreigners believe in siding their own kind. If Singaporean go to China and become manager, the China people will murder the Singaporean. I have a young cousin who died just like that. So badly maned that the face is barely recognisable. So you see, Singaporeans already have a very big heart. PAP never appreciate, and only criticise us. =(

I used to see Singaporeans being very kind on the train to give up seats to the foreigners who fight for seats with them. But recently, I see Singaporeans finally standing up to their rights. Kudos!

Thx for reminding us.

PAP has played fair with China in the Suzhou Industrial Park Project. But China played dirty and resorted to dirty tricks.

The government invited their PRCs to come as scholars but China gave us the list of lousy rubbish students for annual slection instead.

We set- up companies there, but China also resorted to nasty games! WHEN will stoopid PAP ever learn? Still use Sun Xu as a bad example to connive us into some hidden consipiracy.

There is NO point playing fair to them. The only way is to be cruel and continue to push them to a corner until they cry for a fair game here!

PAP destroyed my home here. So how to have hoope and heart for non- citizens?

It is my job to make non-citizens miserable, unhappy, feel *****-off so that they can pack their bags and go home.

No other world government has quite engaged at such a level with the citizenry but it is timely to rally together and define what Home, Hope and Heart means to each of us. Personally I much prefer to be identified and associated with the 3Hs than the shallower 5Cs of yesteryear. We are at last ready to move to the next stage of maturation in national identity. Thank you for hearing the people out.

Frankly, I am very very disppointed with the PM's speech this year.
I felt Hopeless and dishearten seeing some Singaporeans. homeless.
other than the PM telling Singaporeans are woirng for not embracing foreogners and PRs, he did not say anything about foriegners like Ma Chi who beats the red lights and killed a tru blue Singaporen taxi driver who has to eanr his money the hard way, plying his taxi at 4am in the wee hours to be run down by a silly toad.

I wonder where is our PM's heart if he has one????

On the subject of Sun Xu that PM has brought up, frankly, if Singaporeans did not kick up scuh a big fracas about it, would the government do anything?

Maybe not, maybe Sun Xu will likely get away scott free at teh expenses of naming kind Singaporeans.
So, in conclusion, I think Singaporeans are right to stand up and speak up for themselves, we have been quiet for too long, it is time we decied our own destiny.

We Singaporeans should and MUST speak up whenever we see something not right.

We Salute all Singaporeans who spoke up on the Sun Xu and Ma Chi incidents.

PM spoke about the 4 Asian dragons Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong and South Korea.
If you look at the other 3 countries, they do not have problems that is faced by Singapore.

Taiwanes are smart as they only allow the PRCs to come into Taiwan as tourist and students, they will leave Taiwan after their visits, they cannot buy government funded housing.

South Korea also do not have this problem as languang is one of the main reasons and PRCs are also allowed in as tourist but not for employment.

Hong Kong is a littlebit unfortunate as they are part of China now but I am proudn of the Hongkongers as they put up a street protest against the mainlanders ofr issues like the branded bag shop issue, the China-propanganed education policies to be forced down onto them and so on.

Singapore is the only country among them to import so many PRCs which is unwanted in theior own country and they come here as lowly paid unskilled foreign worker in NTUC, SBS transot, panasonic, etc...

In short, Singapore is the worst of the 4 as Singaporeans have to put up these unruly behaviour and make our homes so uncomfortable.

The Taiwnese, Hong Konger and Korenas are much more happier than the Singaporeans

Also they did not brought in so many foreigners. They are still doing fine. Singaporean are more humble and timid. Or else u will tend to see people walking down the streets protesting.

I would like to correct the PM on the issue of housing and marriage which he spoke of during the rally.
PM is wrong as he said that we should consider marriage and babies first before the house, why I said PM is wrong?

In China, majority of the men who wanted to get married must have a house, they call it Matrimony House, sole for the purpose of marraige. Some could not afford it and their parents help chip in and some wealthy parents bought houses for their sons to get married.

The women in China will always put the house ownership as a first consideration before choosing their men. I would say about 95 to 98percent of the women will consider the house to be an important issue before talking about marriage.

So, for Singaporeans to consdier setting up a family before having a house is totally out of the question.

This is the most disappointing national day rally I ever heard.

PM Lee, if you want to hear what typeof Singapore we want, than I will tell you. I want a Singapore that has less than 20% of foreigners, and the foreigners needs to pay higher tax since they do not do national service.

Is this clear enough??

To be perfectly honest, nothing new...just reword, rephrase and reiterate...realistically, we will most likely be talking about the same issue in 20 years time...

Frankly, we also have a one-eye dragon overnment who only looks at the bad side of Singaporeans, what about the good side of otehr Singaporeans???

So why PM Lee only mention the Sun Xu incidents and what about other good deeds that Singaporeans do quietly and did noteven bother to mention it?

SO, Singaporeans' advise to PM Lee is do not only look at the bad side of Singaporeans who are your own kind.

The foreigners and PRs here are not saint and they will not be here for you when you fall, they will run faster than you, it is the true blue Singaporeans who will saty behind to stand up for Singapore

What is so good about being a vibrant city like NY, London and why are we afraid of being overtaken by cities like Shanghai, Mumbai and whatever other cities.  Here we are trying to discuss what kind of Singapore does Singaporena want to look forward to but before we start we have already compare ourselves against the vibrant cities.  Seriously, not every aspect of NY, London or any of the other cities are great.  Do we want to be super crowded and super expensive housing which are only affordable to the rich.  It seems to me the 'kiasu' mentality is encouraged by the government.  Why must we always be number 1 in everything, why can't we humble ourself and be contented by not being number 1.  I am not encouraging complacent behaviour here but rather a more balanced social atmosphere may help to encourage people to have babies.  The constant urging and pressuring from the government to increase productivity and to stay on top creates so much stress to the population, the result of which the rat race has become so much more intense as each one aspire to achieve material success, no wonder parents start sending their kids to more than 1 tuition class.  For working adults, continuous education means attending night class after work and doing coursework while the rest of the family is sleeping, where on earth do you find time to make babies.  For those who are able to squeeze sometime to make babies then they have to contend with baby sitting challenges.  Making baby takes a couple of minutes but bringing them up properly is a lifetime of commitment both mentally and financially.  Added to that they are expected to care for their aging parents.  Darn terok!!!

While the government has done a great job in making Singapore what is it today but there are negative consequences as well and they have to be addressed.  So what do want the future Singapore to look like.  The fact that we now start emphasizing on 'Hope, Heart and Home' it must have been triggered by the realisation that Singaporeans in general feel hopeless with the present government that is heartless and the ever escalating housing cost that is going to make them more difficult to acquire a house and so homeless.  These problems are real and difficult to solve but it can only be done if we are sincere in wanting to do this.

To be objective I think the PM's rally speech is long on what we have already know but short on any ideas or actions as to what to do. The current government is bankrupt of ideas regarding the Singapore of tomorrow other than wanting to continue with their existing policies of GDP growth at any cost, growing the reserves for some future generations that will fall on hard times (mainly FTs by then?), importing low labour costs and multi-billionaires to so call raise the standard of living, and frightening the truly Singaporean population that our survival is so fully dependent on the world at large. What the PM has overlooked is that with US and Europe, and even Japan, on the decline, and with all our financial reserves and talents, this is an opportunity for Singapore and true-blooded Singaporeans to be innovative and strike out into the world with confidence. But alas, instead of relying on the creativity, the intelligence and experience of our own local talent with the gumption to take risks and opportunities, we prefer to continue to rely on foreign talent and technology. I think we should stop relying on the current establishment of so-called "business leaders" who are so reliant on Government's support for their business to enrich themselves. If they are so good, why are they not developing Singaporeans and share their fruits? Instead they still continue to rely on the Government to implement policies that protect their profitability. Why not look beyond these traditional bases and identify individuals with ideas that will cause a paradigm shift in the way we think and do business? It's not easy because it means taking risks, courage and imagination. I believe this is where the current government has failed us all, and will continue to disappoint as they continue to run down the opposition and any ideas that are contrary to mainstream policies, and continue to rely on foreigners' abilities, technologies and capital.

PM should not have chastised the entire country on how a minority group of citizens treat foreigners online. This is just a small group of people and like it or not, with or without online forum, they will make nasty comments. However, PM should not have raised this especially during a National Day rally. It is not the right forum. He should have just gone online to engage these citizens to understand why they feel the way they do. i have always looked forward to NDR for past 10 years and liked the outcome. This year, I felt disheartened!

It is so ironic that while the PM was trying to seek connections with the masses in his speech, he ended up in name-calling.  Netizens are so used to it though. Instead of seeking ways to win them over he incurred their wrath even further. Looks like it is an outright warfare now.
