Under the present technology, doctors can't change the sex of a person. What they can do is just to remove the sex organ and create something look like (but unfunctional ) the opposite sex organ. So a transexual is really just has his or her oringinal sex organ removed. His or her hormosones (XX or XY) can't be changed. Therefore people shouldn't go for such operation and the govt shouldn't change the sex in the IC of 'transexuals'. However, 'transexual' people should not think their sexes has been changed -- they are not.

So for Miss Universe beauty contest, transexuals are just not qualified to participate. It is not an issue of exclusiveness. A man can cross dress and behaves like a woman but he is still a man.

The Canada’s Miss Universe organiser should not be afraid the transsexual sued them. They could argue that he was not qualified because he didn’t have full and real female sexual organs.

Yes, sex change cannot change the genetic make-up of a person. But if that person is in all but physical appearance, of the opposite gender, why do we as a society want to torture him/her by denying him/her the right to live as the opposite gender and be treated as such?

To be fair, I feel that these individuals should not insist or be granted the right to change the gender as reflected in their birth certificate and other documents when they were younger. Because at that point in time, they were not officially of the other gender yet.

As for Miss Universe, personally I disagree with allowing transsexuals into the contest. The contest should celebrate natural beauty. Women who went under the knife should also be barred from the contest. Such conditions in itself should already disqualify transsexuals, because if they have not removed their male organs, they are not “women” yet. And if they had, they would have broken the condition on being natural.

A person is either male or female. Either sex has its advantages and disadvantages. What's the purpose of a man want to be a woman or vice versa? Anyway, one can't change his or her gender under the present medical science.
